Dermal Fillers

Cosmetic Injections

Aging is a natural part of life. But not all of the visible signs of aging have to be too. As we get older, our skin begins to lose elasticity. As a result, we develop more fine lines and wrinkles, while seeing less fullness, volume, and tone. Our lips may appear less full, our cheeks less smooth, and our jawlines less tight.

Dermal Fillers can be used to reshape, contour, volumize, fill and revitalize the appearance of the skin. Dermal Fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin, that diminishes as we age.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dermal Filler injections contain hyaluronic acid – a substance that naturally exists in the body. At Rejuvena Medical Aesthetics we use the latest generation of Dermal Fillers, including Juvederm® by Allergan and Restylane® by Galderma, both world leaders in aesthetic products. These Dermal Fillers are non-permanent and contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic to reduce discomfort associated with injections, to allow our patients a more pleasant treatment experience.

By boosting the skins supply of hyaluronic acid, Dermal Fillers revitalise and add volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural and softer yet defined look. Dermal Fillers are a soft injectable gel consisting of stabilised, non-animal hyaluronic acid. The gel is tissue-friendly and closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body. It is long-lasting but not permanent.

Dermal Fillers are only as good as the skill of the injector. At Rejuvena Medical Aesthetics, Sandra and Natalie have extensive experience in working with fillers over many years, perfecting the art of individual yet methodical treatments, to provide natural, subtle and refined results.

Dermal Filler injections provide a non-surgical option to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, add volume in sunken areas, smooth the skin and give a more youthful appearance. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for up to 18 months. Dermal Filler injections can give a natural looking result that does not affect facial expression. As your face changes over time, Dermal Fillers allow you to subtly control your appearance within the passage of time.

Before Treatment

During the initial consultation at Rejuvena Medical Aesthetics, Sandra and Natalie will listen to your treatment expectations and discuss what you wish to achieve. Following an assessment of your treatment needs, Sandra will recommend which Dermal Filler treatment is most suitable for you. No two cases are the same, and you will receive a personal treatment plan based upon your concerns and objectives, facial anatomy and medical history.

After a treatment plan has been agreed, and only once you are happy to proceed, you will be asked to read, understand and sign a consent form before the treatment can begin

During Treatment

Dermal Filler is injected into the skin in small amounts using a very fine needle or cannula. The gel provides natural volume to smooth away the appearance of lines and wrinkles, enhance facial shape, or create fullness depending on the way it is used. Dermal Filler products improve the elasticity and texture of skin, restoring and maintaining the skin’s hydro balance.

The treatment is quick, typically taking about 30-60 minutes. Treatment with Dermal Fillers does not affect facial expression and the benefits can normally be seen immediately.

After Treatment

After a treatment some reactions are relatively common, these include; slight redness, swelling, itching, bruising and tenderness. The reactions are generally mild to moderate and usually disappear shortly after injection. They typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days, but for some treatments they may last longer. In the majority of cases, our patients are able to return to work or their usual daily activities immediately.

People most likely to benefit from Dermal Filler treatment are those looking to:

  • Reduce lines and wrinkles
  • Create more defined or fuller lips
  • Define or volumize the contours of your face, such as chin or cheeks
  • Boost your skin’s vitality, for a healthier more hydrated skin tone (e.g.
    face, hands, neck or décolletage)

Dermal Fillers should not be used in or near areas where there is active skin inflammation or infection. Pregnant or breast-feeding women should not use Dermal Fillers. Individuals with medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response or individuals undergoing therapy that is immunosuppressive may be more prone to infection by a skin injection procedure.

During your pre-treatment consultation, you should thoroughly discuss your medical history with Sandra at Rejuvena Medical Aesthetics to ensure Dermal Fillers are an appropriate treatment for you.

Dermal Fillers used at Rejuvena Medical Aesthetics contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic providing a more comfortable experience and as such extra pain relief is not necessary. Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort but it is a well-tolerated procedure. A local anaesthetic cream can also be applied to the area for additional numbing effect.

At Rejuvena Medical Aesthetics, we approach every case as an individual work of art. Sandra and Natalie will assess the dynamics of your face so as to make sure your features retain harmony and balance and remain true to your own look. Our aim is to enhance, not drastically change. We believe less is more, and we will work with you to achieve desired and subtle results.

The effects of non-permanent fillers will usually last between 12-18 months. This does depend on how your body reacts to and breaks down the dermal filler, the area treated, the volume of product used as well as certain environmental factors.

Whilst the Dermal Fillers used at Rejuvena Medical Aesthetics have been rigorously tested and have a very good safety record; no injectable treatment is without risk. It is recommended that you always seek an appropriately trained and highly skilled Medical Aesthetics Professional to administer any injectable treatment. At Rejuvena Medical Aesthetics, only Sandra and Natalie, certified cosmetic injectors, will carry out your Dermal Filler Injections.
